In January of this year the Muslim Families Initiative (MFI) held an event celebrating the birth of Prophet Muhammed (s) and Imam al-Sadiq (a). The event was held in the Al-Khoei Foundation in North-West London and was attended by over 150 people. The programme featured all kinds of events, including a play about learning from the Prophet’s life, an interactive quiz and a show for children by Farooq the Fun Scientist. Prominent amongst the programme was an initiative in which children were asked to memorise a verse from the Qur’an related to the Prophet and record their recitation of it. Crucially, each child was sponsored to memorise their verse, with the money they raised being donated to Noor Orphans Fund in order to support the orphans of Iraq.
We are very happy to say that a total of £800 was raised for the orphans. We would like to send a big thank you to the Muslim Families Initiative for organising this event and to all the children who memorised their chosen verses and raised so much money. It’s really wonderful to see our children raising funds for orphans and showing how much they care. To foster the love of charity in the hearts of our children is exactly the spirit in which the Noor Orphans Fund was founded and we’re glad to see it carrying on. We’re sure these children will grow up to be generous and giving members of society.Leave a reply →
